SAVOUR SRI LANKA
Limber up for lashings of chai, spa spoiling and yoga stretching in the heartland of Sri Lanka. You’ll start off at the Santani Wellness Retreat, where you can relax with a massage and enjoy creative healthful dining. The second hotel, Ceylon Tea Trails, is in the tree-carpeted Hill Country and boasts butler-attended villas alongside a whole host of tea inspired treats – think Earl Grey-infused dishes and tea-themed spa sessions. Last, but not least, is the Tri retreat on the banks of Lake Koggala. This eco-conscious hotel and spa favours ayurvedic principles – so from the food to the treatments, you’ll be truly looked after.
Trip length: 11 nights
When to go: December to March, when the monsoons have passed and the verdant hills are dry underfoot.

Each of Santani Wellness Retreat’s standalone villas rests on stilts atop a hillside, gazing out to Sri Lanka’s natural wonders. The hotel’s window walls and cantilevered infinity pool let you appreciate the great outdoors; but Santani’s inner beauty is full-fledged too, with its cedar-wood sauna and thermal salt pool, four-poster beds and creative healthful dining.
Ceylon Tea Trails is justly proud of its tea-infused surroundings. It’s evident throughout: the dining menu is shot through with Earl Grey-enhanced dishes; spa treatments are scattered with loose leaves; and high tea is served by the garden’s tea shrubs.
Tri’s spiral design was inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, but it’s not just math whizzes who will appreciate this eco-conscious wellness retreat. Most of the cinnamon wood-clad cabins overlook the restful waters of Lake Koggala, and yoga and Ayurveda practices are placed front and centre in its philosophy.

Your historic hotel, Svatma, is in prime position for more temple hopping and offers a range of cultural experiences – from architectural lessons and jewellery workshops, to weaving classes and sari-wrapping guides.
