Do you make resolutions each year you know you’ll never stick to? New Year’s resolutions can be hard to keep, as most of the time we set ourselves unrealistic, unattainable goals. With this in mind, personal trainer Max Ziegler of Core The Studio lets us in on his eight top fitness resolutions, offering advice on how best to stick to them…
1. Get More Sleep
Getting the right amount of sleep each night is vital to your health. To best achieve it, set yourself a time to go to bed each night and wake up each morning – once it becomes a routine it’ll be easier to stick to.
2. Sign Up For A Race
Signing up for a race – particularly one associated with a charity you believe in – is a great way of getting yourself motivated to run more.
3. Invest In A Personal Trainer
Some people require a helping hand in their push for a healthier lifestyle. At Core The Studio, clients stick to their goals and see successes quickly as they follow a structured programme designed by a qualified PT.
4. Download An App
Apps like Headspace help you centre yourself and remind you to dedicate time to meditation. Others like Nike+ Run Club are also great, presenting you with motivational reasons to get running when you’re feeling unmotivated.
5. Find Time For Pilates
Dedicating time to daily Pilates classes can be unrealistic – but remember, Pilates can be practiced anywhere, be it at the desk or on a mat in your bedroom. Plus, Core The Studio can give you Pilates moves you can fit around your lifestyle. The benefits of practicing Pilates are endless and include preventing back pain, improving muscle tone, bettering your breathing habits and promoting a good night’s sleep.
6. Take 10 Minutes To Meditate Each Day
Meditating for just ten minutes each day will get your mind in the right state to deal with all that life brings and prevent stress and overwhelming feelings. Ten minutes is short enough for you to incorporate it easily into your day, whilst allowing enough time to feel the effects.
7. Drink Two Litres Of Water A Day
The European Food Safety Authority recommends women should drink about 1.6 litres and men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid per day. To make it easier to fit this into your lifestyle, invest in a 2-litre bottle and acknowledge the level of water left as you drink it throughout the day.
8. Walk for 30 Minutes A Day
Walking for 30 minutes a day can do wonders for your body whilst allowing you to continue living your busy life. It can make a great difference to your health and contribute to weight loss.
