Pernille Teisbaek Shares Her Secrets To Scandi Style |
Favourites 12

Influencer, model, stylist, creative director, and now published author... Pernille Teisbaek has a lot of strings to her bow. To celebrate the launch of her first ever book, Dress Scandinavian: Style your Life and Wardrobe the Danish Way, we sat down with the fashion star to chat Scandi style, winter wardrobes and how she chose her wedding dress…

People watching is my biggest fashion inspiration… I don’t have one style icon – there are so many stylish people out there. I love seeing all the beautiful girls and boys on the street. I also insist on going to the international fashion weeks twice a year to see the shows, the style and the people.
I always stay true to the Scandinavian DNA in my style… I like to dress the part depending on where in the world I am, but I would wear a cosy knit with a skirt and sneakers in any city.
But my style has changed since becoming a mother… When you have an infant, something like a beautiful silk shirt that can’t go into the wash becomes very impractical. Washable white cotton T-shirts quickly became a favourite after I had my son.

I found my wedding dress on Pinterest… I thought it was absolutely beautiful and I knew I wanted something similar. Luckily, I didn’t need to have it recreated as the dress in the picture was a Vera Wang gown from the same season.

My top three style tips are…
Confidence: Don’t wear something that you don’t feel confident in – it shows.
Comfort: Scandinavian style is all about not compromising on comfort. Think cosy knits and sneakers.
Minimalism: Pair down your looks and focus on flattering, classic items like jeans and blazers.

Interior decoration means so much to us Scandinavians, as we spend a lot of time in our homes… To channel the aesthetic, invest in beautiful pieces of Scandinavian furniture like Børge Mogensen, Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen. And don’t decorate your home like a showroom – make it hyggelig and create a liveable space you want to spend time in.
A book is a great way to get more intimate with my audience… After closing down my blog, Look de Pernille, in 2016, Instagram became the only platform for engaging with my followers and I wanted to keep inspiring my readers with written content, ideas and style tips.

I shut down my blog to focus on other projects… Such as having my first child and launching my company, influencer marketing agency Social Zoo. Instagram was quickly becoming a more important platform for me, too.

My favourite Scandinavian brands are… Ganni, Acne, Nué Notes, By Malene Birger, and Totême. For jewellery, I love Orit Elhanati, Sophie Bille Brahe and Griegst.

This January I’ll be wearing plenty of warm knitted jumpers… It’s already quite cold in Copenhagen, so I’ll be looking to the likes of Anya Hindmarch, Loewe and Ganni.
My most-loved item of clothing changes all the time… But I really love my shoe collection. I can never get enough of shoes.
