Beauty Brand To Know: Murad |
Favourites 18

When it comes to your complexion, it pays to use products with science on their side. No wonder, then, that Murad is cited by industry insiders as the brand to have on your radar. Their revolutionary clinical skincare is inspired by Founder Dr Murad’s 30 years of dermatology research, and offers proven results for every skin type. Here’s why you need it on your shelf…

What’s the concept behind Murad?

Founded in 1989 by dermatologist Dr Howard Murad, the brand was the beauty world’s very first skincare range developed by a doctor. His innovative and award-winning products are aimed at making beautiful skin accessible to everyone.

What makes it different?

With 19 unique patents and a 30-year legacy of clinical testing, Murad’s products are often unrivalled when it comes to proven results. Plus, unlike other dermatologist-backed skincare brands, the Murad philosophy takes a more holistic stance, believing a healthy complexion is a reflection of total wellness both inside and out. Take, for example, the Hydro-Glow Food Supplement, £50, a potent blend of glucosamine, hyaluronic acid and collagen for a lit-from-within glow.

What are the hero products?

The Murad line up is aimed at improving skin health for a plumped-up glow. Cult products include the Retinol Youth Renewal Serum, £65, a gentle yet hard-working formula designed to visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and the City Skin range – ideal for urban dwellers, this SPF and night treatment duo works hard to protect against pollution during the day and to detoxify, purify and refresh the complexion while you sleep.

Does it really work?

It would seem so. Take, for example, the Retinol Serum; after just two weeks in clinical trials, 93% of participants saw a reduction in lines and wrinkles. The City Skin Age Defense was found to protect against an impressive 89% of HEV light (that’s blue light from screens and laptops), and the Eye Lift Firming Treatment made skin look up to twice as firm in mere minutes.

Who’s it for?

The brand’s impressive line-up covers every skin type and woe – from blemishes to pigmentation and sun damage  – so there really is something for everyone.

And it’s popular?

Dr Murad was recently named the ‘Best Forward-Thinking Doctor’ by Vogue and dubbed a “beauty genius” by Elle. Caroline Hirons also listed Murad's Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture as one of her favourite products of last year (her blog readers will know what a huge deal this is). Murad products are forever winning beauty awards across the globe and are recommended by countless other dermatologists, too.

What’s the damage?

Prices for a cleanser start at £19.50 and serums, moisturisers and masks are priced around £50. It doesn't exactly come in cheap, but with Murad, you're paying for results (not fancy adverts and OTT packaging).
