From swanky wine bars to retro private members' clubs, we’ve whittled down our pick of the best new bars, cocktail dens and late-night party palaces popping up in the city this month, guaranteed to quench your thirst come Friday night…
MNKY HSE, Mayfair’s Latin American restaurant-cum-drinking-and-dancing-den, has launched MNKY LNGE; an exclusive lounge bar and events space, separate to the main restaurant. The bar is adorned in cool, contemporary art and will feature an ever-evolving programme of live performers and resident and international DJs, along with delicious bar bites – think tuna sashimi and wagyu beef tacos – along with free-flowing mescal and tequila. The space will also be available to hire out for private parties and events.

The Back Room at Kitty Hawk
Kitty Hawk’s glitzy two-floor venue has added another string to its debonair dining belt in the form of a swanky new wine bar, The Back Room. Work your way through their delectable wine list – which changes every week – and make use of the handy wine tap if you’re too thirsty to wait for table service and want to help yourself to your own. Servings of cheese and charcuterie will be available to share, as well as small plates of Moroccan lamb tagine, Merguez sausage and lentil and fish stew.

The Devonshire Club
Nestled in the heart of the city, Devonshire Club is a stylish new members’ club and hotel, offering freelancers, food lovers and discerning drinkers alike a place of respite and relaxation. With three bars – the Champagne Bar, Library Bar and Cocktail Bar – serving up a mix of classic cocktails, spirits, wines and fizz, in glam surroundings – there are plenty of kitsch 1970s corners to choose from – and two restaurants, you’ll be spoilt for choice in this retro retreat. The Brasserie serves up Mediterranean-British cuisine with an Asian twist, and fresh shellfish classics will available from the Seafood Bar. For those who want to make a night of it, the club has its own boutique hotel available to non-members, with 68 charmingly designed rooms to curl up in after a night on the tiles.
4 & 5 Devonshire Square, The City, London EC2M 4YD
Mahiki’s party palace will be spreading its wings from central London and opening a sister site Kensington this October. Champagne and tropical cocktails will be served from the legendary Mahiki treasure chest, and they’ll also be launching a bottomless brunch with more Bloody Marys and Mimosas than you’ll know what to do with. For foodies, there’s Polynesian-themed restaurant, Pufferfish, serving up delectable pan-Asian cuisine.
2A Kensington High Street, London W8 4PT
Bankside’s latest watering hole comes in the form of SAMA, a late-night restaurant and bar designed to work like a ‘members club without the membership’. Industrial décor runs throughout with exposed brickwork, steel lighting and reclaimed wooden floorboards, offset against splashes of colour on walls and furnishings. Cocktails are available as ‘signature’, ‘sensible’, or with a ‘classic twist’, and a menu of burgers, ribs, jerk chicken and rib-eye steak, along with sharing platters of mixed meats, cheese and mezze will be served up from the kitchen.
