Ever since Suranne Jones debuted as the formidable Dr Gemma Foster, she had the nation hooked. In fact, over 10 million people tuned in to watch the dramatic Doctor Foster finale. Now, almost two years later, the critically acclaimed dark drama is back – hitting screens for a second season this September.
Giving us a sneak peek at the new series, the BBC has released a teasing trailer and there’s already plenty of intrigue.
What can we expect?
Series two picks up on the story in real time, two years after the last series ended. The show’s writer and creator, Mike Bartlett, revealed: “We’re now going to tell the next chapter in Gemma’s story. Her life in Parminster may look better on the surface, but as she will discover to her cost, every action has its consequences eventually. No one comes through hell unscathed.”
It looks like we might be in for another showdown between Gemma and her now-ex-husband Simon, as he and his mistress Kate move back into town.
Will it be different to series one?
The new series will retain the same sense of suspense, mystery and drama as we saw in the first, but with an undercurrent of surprisingly sexy tension. It’s also been revealed that Gemma’s character has a new-found confidence that will make you root for her even more than you did before, whilst her ex Simon’s evil edge is ramped to the max. We can’t wait.
When will the new series air?
Doctor Foster series two will start on Tuesday 5th September at 9pm on BBC One. If you didn’t catch the first season, you can watch all the episodes on iPlayer here.
